Welcome to the LP PTA!

What is the PTA?

PTA (Parent Teacher Association): The goal of the PTA is to build strong working relationships among parents, teachers and administration in support of our students. We recruit and coordinate volunteers, plan and organize a mix of educational and fun school activities, plan teacher appreciation activities and much more.

Our PTA provides a wide range of activities/services for our school, including:

  • After School Enrichment Programs, Hot Lunch, Spelling Bee, Fun Run, Geography Bee, Read-a-thon, Fall Carnival, movie nights, annual dodgeball game, annual dance, yearbook, book clubs, spiritwear, Spring Picnic, special assemblies, Math Night, room parents in each classroom, and the Science Fair.

Some of the events listed above are fundraisers (Fun Run, Read-a-thon and Fall Carnival), which are separate from Moraga Education Foundation (MEF).  The money raised from these activities benefits LP directly and provides a stipend ($400) for each teacher for supplies, as well as staff training and development, schoolwide office supplies and materials, subscriptions and equipment needed for supplemental classes, such as PE, art and computers.  We also fund one capital improvement project per year on campus.  Recently, some of the big items the PTA funded were the lower playground, and a new audio-visual system in the Oak Room, which is our multi-purpose room.

PTA members include parents, teachers and administrators.  We encourage you to join the PTA (available on Membership Toolkit) and become active in the school community.  Our meetings are held at LP monthly (third Wednesday of the month at 8:30 a.m.), with one evening meeting in February. Each meeting includes an update from our Principal, Ms. Richards. In addition, we go over financials and monthly business and occasionally will have a guest speaker who will present on a topic of interest.

Even if you can't make the meetings, there are many ways that you can get involved. We have a great group of parents who help out at the school in all different ways and would love to have you on our team. The kids love to see their parents on campus helping out!  And for those of you who can't be on campus, there are plenty of jobs that need to be done from home.  If you are interested in getting more involved, let us know, and we can help you find a job that works for you! Please e-mail us at:  Thank you!

Science Fair season is here!

Students in 2nd through 5th grades are welcome to participate in the LP PTA sponsored Science Fair!  The 2019 Science Fair will be held on Wednesday, March 20th from 6:30-7:30, so there is plenty of time to perform all of those awesome experiments!

Applications are due on or before  Wednesday, February 20th. Forms are available online HERE. Please print the application, fill it out, staple, and return it to the office by 4:00 pm on the 20th of February. Note: There are some printed applications in the office as well.

Applications will be reviewed and returned by Thursday, February 28th. Once students receive the approved application, let the experiments begin!

Hot Lunch Ordering!

Sodexo logo

As we announced in the spring, LP's lunch program will now be provided in partnership with Sodexo School Services.  We are excited that Sodexo will offer healthier lunch options at a more reasonable price to our Los Perales families and hope that you will enjoy the switch as well.  Sodexo is the leader in contracted foodservice operations and is a leader in the K-12 Schools market with over 40 years of experience.  Sodexo has many local and organic farmers and food distributors and will incorporate these partnerships into the hot lunch program at LP.

A lunch will consist of Entrée Item (per ordered selection), Trip to Variety Barand Milk.  Additional items may be ordered (Smoothie, Baked goods, etc):

If you pre-ordered an entrée item, your child will be given their pre ordered entrée.  Your child will then be able to visit and choose at will, healthy options available on our "help-yourself" Variety Bar.

Variety Bar
If you ordered only the Variety Bar for your child, they will receive an empty plate (without an entrée) and will then fill it with their choice of items from the Variety Bar which includes a rotation of fresh & dried fruits, fresh & roasted vegetables, salads, and a selection of vegetarian proteins like hard-boiled eggs, legumes, cheeses, and yogurts. Your child will be able to fill their plate according to their preferences.

Sides like Smoothies and Parfaits can be pre-ordered and added to any meal or purchased separately. Please note, buying just an "add-on" item is truly a la carte and does not grant your student access to the Entrée or Variety Bar. If you are planning on purchasing your student only an add-on, we recommend packing them a lunch from home.

Sodexo has partnered with BOONLI to provide a secure, fast, and easy-to-use online ordering system that allows Los Perales families to view our lunch menu, order, prepay and manage student lunches from their smartphone, tablet or computer.  Parents will be able to SELECT OR EDIT your student's order up to one week prior to the meal day. Please visit the Boonli site to view menus and place your orders. To minimize your processing fees and check off a to-do from your list, order a few months at a time.  You can always make changes later!

Be sure to proceed to checkout and process your payment. Orders that are left in the shopping cart will NOT be processed and your student(s) will not be included in the lunch service.

We need volunteers!  We still need volunteers to help in the lunchroom.  Commitment is an hour every other week.  This is a great chance to see the kiddos in action. Grab a friend and do it together.  If you would like to help, contact  Stefanie Galizia or sign up through  MTK.
