Weekly News!

This week in room 15...

  • THANK YOU!!! I felt spoiled as I walked into school today! Thank you for the birthday wishes.
  • We focused on the Pilgrim simulation for most of the week.  Students enjoyed writing historical fiction journal entries and facing challenges such as settlement building, trade with the natives and planting crops.
  • Our realistic fiction stories have been a hit!  Students have asked to keep writing more installments to their stories. We are in the process of publishing our stories, complete with illustrations.
  • We finished up our Native American slide presentations this week.  It was fun to collaborate on our document using Google Slides and Chromebooks.  I was impressed with the information that the students shared about their tribes.
  • There was no math rotation this week due to the shortened schedule and special projects.  We did work on fact practice and some problem solving.
  • We love our first grade buddies!  It was wonderful to read with them this week.
  • Mrs. Russell did an amazing job with the book fair this week.  Thank you parents for helping out with the even and thank you families for donating some great new books to our classroom library.
  • Report cards were sent home on Friday.  Please keep the card and return the envelope with your signature. Thank you for taking the time to meet with me to review your child's progress.  I look forward to working with your child to meet their goals.
  • Life Skill Focus:  Friendship: to make and keep friends.  I am proud to announce that Isabella showed friendship to her classmates this week.

Volunteer Sign Ups

Our school and classroom wouldn't be the same without the help of parents like you.  There will be opportunities to help out throughout the year.

Other parent help is needed December 14 for "Immigration Day", January 26 for our Chabot Space & Science Center trip, February Valentine's Day party, March 14 our trip to the Mt. View Sanitary District, late April/early May for our Moraga History Trip and finally in June for our end of year party.  Our trips in March and April will require parent drivers.  Parents helping on trips or in class projects need to be cleared by the district.

Volunteers are required to fill out paperwork, take a quiz, and bring a copy of your driver's license to the office or district office.  Click here to access the requirements.  Many people are already "cleared" with the district.  Please contact the office or myself if you are unsure of your status.  Driver form is located in my "locker".  Please fill this out if you can be a driver.

Thank you for all the support you provide in and out of the classroom.
