Free Movie Presentation: “Miss Representation”

When: Wednesday, June 1, 2016 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Where: JMIS, 1010 Camino Pablo, Moraga, Auditorium

RSVP: HERE or https://www.eventbrite.com/e/free-movie-miss-representation-tickets-24307474310

Written and directed by Jennifer Siebel Newsom, “Miss Representation” exposes how mainstream media and culture contribute to the under-representation of women in positions of power and influence in America.

The film draws back a curtain to reveal a glaring reality we live with every day but fail to see – how the media’s limited and often disparaging portrayals of women and girls makes it difficult for women to feel powerful and achieve leadership positions.

Sponsored by the Moraga iKind Project and the JM iKind Committee, the JM Smile Club, The AUHSD Diversity Committee and Campolindo HS and JM Leadership Student

The film is appropriate for students age 13+.  Younger students are welcome to attend with a parent or guardian.  Community members are welcome.  Student panel and discussion will follow movie presentation. Movie Trailer

LifeSkills at LP

Every Wednesday two Student Council Representatives lead our entire school in the Pledge of Allegiance and share a “Thought of the Week,” which focuses on one of our sixteen LifeSkills.  To listen to this week’s announcement click the play button in the box below.

Soul Shoppe

In collaboration with the LP PTA and Soul Shoppe, LP students in TK-5th grade will be participating in four Elementary Peace Program workshops throughout this school year.  These workshops are designed to reach every student within the school, giving everyone common language and skills to know how to be safe, respectful and peaceful at school and in life.

Moraga Education Foundation

Every LP Student, Every Day

Thanks to the success of last year's campaign and the generosity of our fabulous MEF donors, the Moraga School District will receive $1,500,000 in funding from MEF for personnel and programs this school year.  Every LP student benefits every day from MEF funding.

This year, MEF will pay for the following at LP:  Librarian, Computer Teacher, the new K-8 Writing Program, Reading Tutors, Music Teachers, Art Teachers, PE Teachers, Teachers' Aides, Curriculum Instruction Specialists (in Math and ELA), and Kids' Connection.  This wouldn't happen without the support of all our LP families.

Please donate, pledge or set up your payment plan today! www.moragaeducation.org
