Mindfulness Week at LP

What is mindfulness, and why is it a hugely popular topic?

Mindfulness is bringing one's complete attention to the present experience on a moment-to-moment basis. Large research studies have indicated that the practice of mindfulness is strongly correlated with well-being and positive educational outcomes. Moraga School District includes mindfulness in its strategic plan and Los Perales has been bringing mindfulness to its students, teachers and parents for the past several years!

This year Mindfulness Week at LP is October 17 - 21!
Please join us for the highly popular events on Wednesday, Oct. 19th
. Maura Wolf will lead a yoga class at 8 am open to all LP students, parents and staff. At 8:30 am, Maura and Erika Roesch will provide a one hour mindfulness training for all Moraga parents (just sign in at front office)! There will also be a discussion on the topic at the PTA meeting at 9:30. For newcomers and experienced folks, this will be a great kickoff and grounding for your mindfulness practices!

If you would like to receive more information but cannot attend, or have questions please contact Joanna Hill (202) 441-4960.

PTA Reflections Art Program Is Here!

"What is Your Story?"  is the theme for this year's Reflection Art Program.

Students may submit entries in 6 different categories:

Visual Arts ( Paintings, Drawings, etc.)
 Dance Choreography
 Film Production
 Music Composition

Art is now recognized in so many mediums from paint and chalk, to the pen, computer, iPhone, and video and it's a great opportunity for our students to explore their creativity.

Selected works of art will move to the next level of judging and may ultimately end up at the state or national level! Rules and entry forms are available in the office. For more information, please click here.  Please discuss the theme and program with your child and start brainstorming on how they can share their story!

Come find us at the Fall Carnival! We will have art supplies, entry forms, and can answer any questions!

Please contact Sonali Singh  or Martha Rutzen for more information.

**All entries will be due on Friday, October 21st.**

Moraga Education Foundation

Thanks to the success of last year's campaign and the generosity of our fabulous MEF donors, the Moraga School District will receive $1,500,000 in funding from MEF for personnel and programs this school year.  Every LP student benefits every day from MEF funding.

This year, MEF will pay for the following at LP:  Librarian, Computer Teacher, the K-8 Writing Program, Reading Tutors, Music Teachers, Art Teachers, PE Teachers, Teachers' Aides, Curriculum Instruction Specialists (in Math and ELA), and Kids' Connection.  This wouldn't happen without the support of all our LP families.

Please donate, pledge or set up your payment plan during online registration, which opens on August 8th. Click here to donate today or go to
